Biography
Renowned for his sensitive and imaginative interpretations, Franco-Belgian pianist Antoine Préat stands out for his strong personality and artistic curiosity.
Signed at the age of 25 by the Naïve label, he recently gained recognition at the 2021 Clara Haskil International Competition.
He has been invited to perform in internationally renowned venues such as Wigmore Hall, Salle Gaveau, Salle Cortot, Petit Palais, and the Frederyk Chopin Institute. He has participated in the Nohant Chopin Festival, Lisztomanias, Chopin à Bagatelle, Concerts d’Esther, Nuits du Piano in Paris, IMS Open Chamber Music at Prussia Cove, and the Encuentro de Santander. Antoine has also made several radio appearances on BBC Radio 3, France Musique, Scala Radio, and Musiq3 RTBF.
His debut with the University of Alicante Orchestra was followed by invitations to perform with the Tonerl Chamber Orchestra, Sainsbury Soloists, the Royal Academy Festival Orchestra, the London Student Orchestra, and the Resonate Chamber Ensemble. He has had the privilege of sharing the stage with, among others, Maté Szücs, Manuel Blanco, Sinfonietta Lausanne, Lesley Hatfield, Robin Ireland, and the Paris Chamber Music Centre.
Throughout his training, Antoine has benefited from the generous guidance of artists such as Philippe Cassard, Cédric Pescia, Robert Levin, Jerome Lowenthal, Richard Goode, Imogen Cooper, and Thomas Adès.
After graduating with unanimous honors from the École Normale Alfred Cortot, where he studied under Lioudmila Berlinskaia and Guigla Katsarava, Antoine continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School in London with Tatiana Sarkissova and Ronan O’Hora.
Fascinated by early music and always seeking a deeper understanding of the repertoire and his instrument, Antoine studied harpsichord and fortepiano with Carole Cerasi in London, as well as with fortepianists Andreas Staier and Tobias Koch in Poland.
He was a finalist at the Ettlingen Competition for Young Pianists and the Gagny International Competition, and a prizewinner at the Île-de-France International Competition, the Claude Kahn Competition, and the Los Angeles Colburn Piano Festival Competition.
