Biography
Pierre Fouchenneret is a violinist from Nice whose commitment spans his activities as both soloist and chamber musician in equal measure. He is recognized for his boldness and an authentic vision of the repertoire. Regularly invited by leading ensembles, he has performed notably with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, the Strasbourg Philharmonic, and the Irish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra.
Invited onto stages around the world, Pierre Fouchenneret's "extraordinary bow" (Le Figaro) has quickly led him to perform with exceptional musicians, forging ambitious long-term projects — in particular in sonata with Romain Descharmes and with the Quatuor Strada. He has initiated several complete-cycle recording projects: Brahms's chamber music in twelve albums (BRecords), Beethoven's sonatas for piano and violin (Aparté), Robert Schumann's music (BRecords), including the violin concerto, and Gabriel Fauré's chamber music (Aparté) as well as his rarely performed violin concerto (Naxos).
His 26/27 season is marked by a new collaboration with the Orchestre national d'Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in Chausson's Poème, then with the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle-Aquitaine in Beethoven's Violin Concerto. He will perform Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto at the Salle Gaveau alongside the Orchestre Consuelo, and will also devote himself to major chamber music programmes — sonata, trio and quartet — marking the bicentenary of Beethoven's death.
Building on these collaborations, Pierre shares the artistic direction of the Orchestre Ostinato, which supports emerging talent by helping young musicians from the finest conservatories enter the profession. This varied and demanding experience is echoed in his teaching activities at the Haute École de Musique Genève-Neuchâtel and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, where he currently holds a position as violin professor.
It is these formative encounters that have naturally led Pierre toward teaching. A child prodigy, Pierre Fouchenneret began his studies at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Nice in the class of Alain Babouchian, completing them at age 16 at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in chamber music and violin, in the classes of Daria Hovora and Olivier Charlier, whose assistant he would later become. Upon graduating, numerous distinctions immediately launched Pierre into an intense career as a concert artist.
