Biography
Vittorio Forte is renowned for his refined playing, expressive elegance, and deeply sincere approach to the repertoire. Driven by constant curiosity, he explores with originality a wide range of musical worlds — from C.P.E. Bach and Couperin to the dazzling transcriptions of Earl Wild, and the works of Nikolai Medtner. Each foray into a new repertoire becomes for him an artistic adventure lived with great intensity.
Born in Italy, he chose at the age of 17 to devote himself entirely to music, under the guidance of Argentine pianist José Lepore. In 1998, he moved to France to continue his studies with Christian Favre at the Lausanne University of Music (HEM). In 2004, he joined the International Piano Academy Lake Como, benefiting from the mentorship of great masters such as Andreas Staier, Fou Ts’ong, William Grant Naboré, and Menahem Pressler.
A prizewinner at several European competitions, he was distinguished in 2007 at the Vlado Perlemuter Grand Prix, where he notably received the Chopin Prize. Since then, he has performed in numerous countries (France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Japan…) in prestigious venues such as the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Essen Philharmonie, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and Bargemusic in New York.
Featured in major festivals (La Roque d’Anthéron, Radio France Festival, La Folle Journée in Nantes, Nancyphonies, Pianofolies du Touquet…), he is also regularly invited on radio programs in France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and Spain.
His discography, praised by the international press (ICMA, Diapason, Classica, Crescendo, Opus Klassik…), reflects the originality of his artistic choices. His recordings — notably Chopin’s Waltzes, C.P.E. Bach, Earl Wild’s transcriptions, and more recently Medtner — have received numerous accolades (Crescendo’s Joker, 5 stars from Classica, Opus d’Or…).
In 2023, he began a new collaboration with the Mirare label, focusing on piano music by South American composers. After eighteen years in Geneva, where he founded the Intermezzo Musical Center, he established the C.A.P.A. (Center for Pianistic and Artistic Activities) in Montpellier, dedicated to teaching, training, and promoting artistic projects.
